What can I expect at Manawa Ora?
At Manawa Ora we traditionally work in a space shared with other kaimiri and whaiora. This is considered ‘safe practice’ to us. Your privacy is important to us; you need only share what information you are comfortable to share in an open space.
Both Mirimiri and Romiromi work at a deep level, even deeper than what is commonly known as ‘Deep Tissue’. We use tools (to apply pressure to specific points) such as kōhatu (stones), rākau (sticks), and the use of hands, feet, elbows, and body weight.
It is common to feel a range of emotions during your session - whatever you feel is normal.
We work intuitively and we treat the whole person. This means we may work in areas you haven’t asked us to work in if we consider there is a need. Please feel free to ask your kaimiri/practitioner why, or tell us if you’re not comfortable, in which case we would encourage you to feel free to stop the session at any point.
We have both male and female practitioners. Your practitioner will be allocated to you on the day of each visit.
What can I expect post treatment?
Post session you can expect to be in release mode, and it is encouraged that you keep physical activity to a minimum (less is more) and take care of yourself.
You might feel emotional after your treatment. You could feel tired or lightheaded. You may feel some discomfort for between 1-3 days. Depending on your physical condition (for example iron levels), you could experience bruising post treatment. Please contact us if you have queries post treatment.
